Once you have a plan for Valentine’s Day (this year I got lucky and H made the reservation) the next question is what you’re going to wear. I always wear my most romantic, girly clothes on Valentine’s Day—there’s plenty of lace, ruffles, and pink! Like most people, our plan is to go out to dinner, but I’ve also put together Valentine’s Day outfits for other activities.
The Classic
This outfit is for my classic ladies, the ones who own a trench coat, a blazer, and an impressive collection of cardigans. If you’re going out to a fancy dinner with someone who brought you a dozen red roses this Valentine’s Day, I suggest this classic-but-memorable black dress. The off-the-shoulder neckline works perfectly with a dazzling crystal statement necklace or strand of twisted pearls. Since the dress is almost mid-calf, I paired it with a high pair of silver sandals to elongate my legs.
Indie Princess
If you’re more of a free spirit than a perfect lady, or you’re going to an event or restaurant where a dramatic gown would be too much, try an understated gray bodysuit with a floaty organza skirt for a creative, feminine Valentine’s Day vibe. If you want to skip the blowout, try a topknot or high ponytail to keep your look polished. I’m accessorizing with simple jewelry and the same strappy metallic heels from the first outfit.
Galentine’s Brunch
For a Valentine’s Day celebration brunch with your besties, go for an unexpected dress and coat combination to look fashionable but still Valentines-ready. This cream-colored lace dress contrasts nicely with a light pink tailored coat. Finish with a suede clutch and booties and you’re ready to be Instagrammed outside your brunch place of choice.
What are you wearing this Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments.
I just have to say that the black dress and the necklace look soooo pretty! It’s so elegant! Thank you for the cute ideas! 🙂
